I choose N scale over others because I do not have a lot of room, and N scale lets me utilize the most of it. With N scale I can have a large layout with minimal space. The trains are twice as long compared to HO, and the turns are half the radius. N scale allows me to get the most enjoyment out of model railroading.
With HO I kept running into space limitations, especially with turns. It became extremely difficult to set up the minimum radius for most locomotives to run on. After accepting defeat and taking some advice from a nice man at a train show, I disassembled my HO layout and switched to N Scale. The new layout is a quarter of the size and still just as fun.
Now, N scale can get difficult when it comes to small parts and pieces. That is an advantage of HO and larger scales. The pieces are easier to work with, especially if you have fading eyesight. They also have a better selection of locomotives in my personal opinion. So, each scale has its ups and downs. It just all comes down to what your goal is with your layout and the space available to you. Good luck on finding your scale!
