My Gopher Hole

Before I put this opening in my layout around one of my turnarounds, I had a terrible time trying to reach back into that corner. Sometimes I thought I was going to fall through the thing. But I got a great idea!

I was at a train show talking with a club member about my predicament, and he suggested to cut a hole! I was a bit hesitant at first. but the idea made a lot of sense. The opening has been a game changer! I can easily reach into that back corner to clean track, fix the road, and add all kinds of scenery!

I do plan on placing some kind of foam in the cut out to cover it up, but for now it doesn't bother me. It makes modeling much, much easier! I highly recommend something like this if you have a hard-to-reach area and to also ask for help at train shows!
